Introduction

The Fritz! Card USB v2.1 comes with a proprietary driver that was last updated for SuSE 9.3

How to compile the driver (for 2.6.32)

Download the original driver from http://download.avm.de/cardware/fritzcrdusb.v20/linux/suse.93/fcusb2-suse93-3.11-07.tar.gz
Unpack it:
```
tar xfzv fcusb2-suse93-3.11-07.tar.gz 
```
Get the patch from fcusb2-2.6.32-35.diff.gz (based on a patch by Ralph Brugger)

Apply the patch:

cd fritz
zcat ../fcusb2-2.6.32-35.diff.gz | patch -p1 -s

Compile and install:
```
make
make install 
depmod -a
```

Attention: The patch tweaks the module's license, in order to solve the technical problem to make it compile on a recent kernel. Do not distribute the patched files. When re-distributing, always distribute Fritz' base files (fcusb2-suse93-3.11-07.tar.gz) and the patch from this site separately!

Other needed software

In order to use the card, you need to install the capiutils and pppdcapiplugin packages.

Firmware

Place the fus3base.frm firmware file into /lib/firmware/isdn

Append the following line to /etc/isdn/capi.conf:

fcusb2          fus3base.frm  DSS1    -       -       -       -

Other config files

The 99-fcusb2.rules file (to be placed into /etc/udev/rules.d automatically runs capiinit when the device is recognized
The luxweb file (to be placed into /etc/ppp/peers/) is an example of a peers file. Substitute phone number, user name and password as appropriate...

Using it

Bring the ISDN internet up using pon luxweb and stop it using poff luxweb (substitute provider name as appropriate).
